STRP – Saskatchewan Teachers' Retirement Plan
Saskatchewan
Full pension and early retirement
You get a full pension, with no reduction, at the first of these:
- Age 65
- 30 years of service
- 85 points from age 55
- Age 60 with 20 years of service
Points are your age plus your years of service.
- Earliest retirement
- Age 50
- Retiring earlier
- The plan quotes your reduced pension for each date
- Bridge benefit
- Until age 65, reduced with the pension if you retire early
- Increases after you retire
- 100% of inflation
What retiring early costs: an example
STRP's rules differ from member to member, such as by when service was earned, so there is no single example here. Your plan's statement or its estimator gives your pension for each date you could retire.
What to copy from your paperwork
To use your own numbers in the income timeline:
The STF's Pension Estimator gives your pension for the retirement dates you choose. If it lets you add pay raises, leave them at 0%: this tool takes the amounts as today's dollars. Enter two or more ages, including your first with no reduction, with the pension until 65 (with the bridge, on service to June 2015) and from 65.
STRP's own estimator: the STF's Pension Estimator.
